1992 C'est La Mort
Taking their name from the story in Greek mythology, this Minneapolis group led by Christian Erickson earned the label “trance-pop pioneers”. They easily could have been on the 4AD roster and not just because they used a dulcimer. Medieval instruments, rolling tribal beats, layered fretless bass and stark, mood-inducing sequences complimenting Christian’s soothing baritone. Absolutely one of my most treasured albums that gets played weekly. We were rewarded with two albums and a couple tracks on the Doctor Death series before they called it quits in 1994.

Beautiful. Got It. Gracias.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourites! 5th or 6th DD next?
DeleteI was hoping you were going to blow my mind & offer up 2nd DD.
DeleteHa! I wish I could. Never knew the story behind the missing "Vol 2"... there has to be one. I could post the DD4 Instrumental Companion or one of the brilliant Area albums, Beautiful Pea Green Boat, Handful Of Snowdrops... tough lot to pick from.
