I think this would be my definition of a perfect label. I just love everything this label offered us from the brilliant & complex ambient compositions to the beautifully consistent designed Digipaks. All recorded using Roland Sound Space RSS 3D sound imaging. Living from 1994-1998 they gave us 18 pieces of ambient music supremacy. This was the labels introduction, heralding in the frog adorned compilations (of which were 6). It’s a faultless release.

Another Moonshine Music release for you. I don’t know too much about composer and producer James Lumb other than being a highlight of the label. Unfortunately only two albums (well 3 if you count Sonic Diary) were released as Electric Skychurch but definitely worth having in your arsenal. Supposedly he puts on a pretty amazing live show with innovative visuals and live performers.

One of my most played compilations. All these songs & artists are brilliant, YAP, Human Mesh Dance & Single Cell Orchestra being some of my all time favourite electronic/ambient bands. “Transmit Liberation” was possibly my most beloved song to play in the chillout room at raves back in the day - gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. This was a “soundtrack” to Caipirinha Productions film of the same name. Give it a watch for a amusing & scary view of the future from a 1993 viewpoint. Artwork by the awesome Taylor Deupree who is Human Mesh Dance that later went on to form the ambient 12k label. “Thank you very much God, over and out.”

Swedish brother & sister team of Olof & Karin are hands down amazing. Silent Shout is a wonderful masterpiece of original electronic music. It still makes me sad they called it quits. My kids LOVE them and this song is on our pre-game mix. Lots of great mixes but the original still rules all. If you haven’t seen the video you are missing out, actually all their videos are very much worth the time. Karin’s other project “Fever Ray” is also a must listen.

Their show at the 99 Coachella is still one of the most memorable with Andy playing stand up bass. Cool remixes & great b-side for you on this one.

A beloved Bristol-based trio of Sian Evans (vocals), Darren "Decoder" Beale and Markee "Substance" Morrison. They brilliantly mesh drum'n'bass, trip-hop & chillout into magic. It was hard picking a single from their collection but this has an exclusive Ashley Beedle mix and Sian was a guest singer for Bent so this release makes perfect sense to post.

Oh, and I just learned how to rip music from the videos on these old CD ROM releases so track 4 is a bonus!

Odd, yet pretty excellent compilation from the folks at Ministry of Sound with a bunch of tremendous artists including Kinobe, Jakatta & Bent. It may take 15 minutes to get through the Hip-Hop on disc 1 (I’m not a huge fan of Rap after 1995) but I think you’ll be pleased. Fingers crossed they come back from their hiatus soon.
